Aertv.ie, Ireland’s favourite online TV platform, will broadcast two major Irish basketball final games this Sunday, March 24th from 5pm GMT.
The Women’s SuperLeague and Men’s National Champions competitions will both be available to watch on Aertv Live at 5pm GMT and 7pm GMT respectively.
“It is fantastic that Aertv can facilitate what is set to be an exciting evening of basketball with Ireland’s top university teams competing against each other, “says Director of Aertv Philippe Brodeur.
“We have been working with clubs and organisations for the past year to give them a platform to broadcast to an online audience that would otherwise miss out on all the live action,” continues Brodeur.
Limerick’s ‘UL Huskies’ take on ‘DCU Mercy’ in the Women’s SuperLeague Final and Cork’s ‘UCC Demons’ take on ‘DCU Saints’ in the Men’s National Champions Trophy Final.
Online viewers are increasing for live events, as recent figures from Aertv show that over 32,000 people tuned in to Aertv on St.Patrick’s Day. The surge in viewers came as a result of a live stream from The People’s Parade, part of a year-long partnership between Aertv and The Gathering Ireland 2013.
The service, which launched just over a year ago, has brought over 100 events live online and is leading the way in TV and Online convergence in Ireland. Unique exceptional events, such as the basketball final games this weekendwould never make it to traditional television but now they have a TV platform and an online audience who want to see it.
