LG Electronics Inc. (LG) today announced an exclusive partnership with Aertv, Ireland’s leading platform for streaming TV on-the-go. The partnership will see the Aertv platform available on the big screen for the first time, feeding the demand for large-screen and lounge viewing based on 88 per cent of TV consumption still being viewed in the home*.

LG Smart TV owners will have access to a range of 19 quality TV channels, including the Irish Broadcast and BBC channels, via a new Aertv app available now from the LG App Store [http://ie.lgappstv.com/]. Previously accessible via smartphones, tablets and computers, the Aertv TV app will be available on LG’s Smart TVs including the award winning webOS platform which offers a simple, user-friendly interface and easy navigation.

Subscription to all 19 channels is available through the Aertv Plus package, which costs just €5.99 per month, and with no contract required users are given the freedom to cancel their subscription at any time.

Aertv Plus is Aertv’s most popular subscription package and allows for unlimited live viewing, which many will find useful for the upcoming Champions League and Six Nations games.

Spiritual and virtual worlds will collide as part of this weekend’s “Light up a Memory” mass – as Aertv will be streaming the service live on Saturday for all those who can’t make it.

The “Light up a Memory” Mass is an opportunity to remember deceased loved ones. In memory of all those lost, candles will not only burn brightly at church this Saturday, but also across the world in a special celebration organised by Missionaries of the Sacred Heart.

In a unique move that will open the celebration to the entire nation, and beyond, those unable to attend the Mass will be able to participate online and have their loved one’s memory included in the service. The Sacred Heart Church will be illuminated in candlelight with church candles in lanterns, candelabras and tea-light candles placed throughout the church. To add to the special ambience St. James Choir Ballinora will perform during the ceremony.

The “Light Up a Memory” Mass is an opportunity to remember with fondness and affection those who are no longer with us and a light is a unique gift in honour of someone special, a loved one who is in your thoughts as the light that shines becomes an inspiring beacon of remembrance and reflection for you. The “Light up a Memory” Mass will take place in the Sacred Heart Church, Western Road, Cork at 6:30pm.

Philippe Brodeur, Director of Aertv said, “Holy Souls is a very important solemn feast for people who have lost loved ones. Providing the streaming of the Mass on our platform will ensure that no matter where they are on the day, people can participate and pay tribute to someone dear to them that they have lost.”

This is the second time that this particular Mass is being celebrated by the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart with the “Light up a Memory” Mass but it is the first time it is available to view online.

Health care professionals must make better use of community-based self-help groups for patients with mental health issues, according to the mental health organisation GROW.

The latest figures from the organisation show that only 37% of people attending its services have been referred by GPs, psychiatrist and other mental health professionals.

As today is World Mental Health Day, Grow.ie have produced a video to explain what exactly it is they do:

According to Grow Ireland CEO, Michele Kerrigan, poor integration between professional services and community support group networks means many patients are being denied a very effective resource.

“The mental health services are under continued pressure. In January of this year, one in four people were waiting more than three months to be seen by a community mental health team. By July that had increased to almost one in three. In the face of every tightening budgets, we need to find ways of providing effective and timely care to people who are experiencing mental health problems,” she said.

“Numerous studies have shown that the self-care and peer support services provided by voluntary organisations like Grow, have significant benefits in terms of reducing hospitalisations, improving patient outcomes and reducing costs. Yet only a very small proportion of the people who come to us for help are actually referred by health care professionals,” she said.

The Grow model of care is based on a combination of cognitive training and peer support similar to that provided by Alcoholics Anonymous and incorporates an adapted 12-step programme. The organisation operates more than 130 groups around the country and hosts more than 6,500 meetings every year.

Studies have shown that the Grow model of care reduces the number and duration of hospitalisations, as well as increasing feelings of security and self-esteem and reducing anxiety. Participants also demonstrate improved coping skills, greater acceptance of their illness, improved medication adherence, and improved daily functioning.
</sup>

In one study of 31 GROW members in the US, the number of days spent in in-patient psychiatric facilities decreased from 179 in the 32 months prior to joining GROW to 49 days in the 32 months after joining GROW. In comparison, a matched group of 31 non-GROW members recorded 174 and 123 in-patient days in the same time periods. The study showed a statistically significant reduction of more than 72% in relation to hospitalisation days with the GROW model, compared to just 29% in the control group.

The benefits have been shown to be associated with length of involvement or extent of involvement in GROW activities.
</sup>

Christine Fitzgerald has been attending GROW meetings for 20 years. Having suffered from panic attacks and depression for many years, she eventually became suicidal and was admitted to hospital. It was there that she first became aware of the organisation.

“I had reached a point where I thought nothing would help me. Like a lot of people in this situation, I had lost all hope of ever being a well person again. If it wasn’t for a commitment to my family, I wouldn’t have gone to that first meeting,” Christine remembers.

“In the beginning I couldn’t make sense of what was going on at the meeting. My concentration was poor and I struggled to take on board what was happening. In spite of that, the one thing I did hear clearly every week was the story. At the beginning of a GROW meeting, someone shares their story and this is what kept me coming back each week. I always felt nobody in the world felt like me or could understand my problems but the more I listened to members sharing their stories each week, the more I realised I wasn’t the only one feeling like this. This realisation was such an enormous relief as I had for years felt so alone.”

“Slowly with the encouragement of other members I started to talk about my life and what was going on for me. Gradually I started to take the advice and work on something practical every week to improve my life. It was small things to start with and as time moved on and I felt better, I took on more challenging tasks. I put my life back together and I have not suffered from any mental health problems for over 20 years,” Christine says

To mark Mental Health Day, GROW has launched a series of videos where members share their experiences of mental illness and recovery. The videos are available at www.grow.ie.

There are more than 130 GROW groups operating throughout the country, holding weekly group meetings designed to give support and advice to people who are currently suffering from mental health issues or have suffered mental health problems in the past.

To find the times and locations of GROW meetings in your area visit www.grow.ie or call 1890 474 474.

Friday, July 11th 2014

The Vampires of the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron, the Black Knights Defence Forces Parachute Team and aerobatic pilots from the Ravens are ready for take-off at this year’s Bray Air Display on Sunday, July 20th for Bray Summerfest, supported by the Irish Aviation Authority.

Ireland’s largest free air show takes off at 3.30pm and the display attracted a record-breaking 85,000 spectators last year, with similar numbers expected again this year. For the first time ever, the three hour display will be live streamed through Aertv.ie (link to watch here), helping the Bray Air Display reach international audiences online.

The ‘Flying Dentist’ (former aerobatic champion, Eddie Goggins) and the ‘Flying Farmer’ (former RAF pilot, Gerry Humphreys) are teaming up once again as ‘Aer Dynamics’. Their smoke-filled display promises to fill the skies with crossover loops, synchronised hammerheads and split shamrocks.

The Aer Lingus A321 is opening the show and The Twister Team trio are also making a welcome return, in their Silence Twister aircraft. The Pitts Trig Team, Stobart Air, the Sikorsky helicopter from the Irish Coast Guard, the Boeing Stearman and the so called ‘Admirals Barge’ (the Beech Expediter) will also be entertaining the large crowds expected.

A piece of aviation history will be created on Sunday (July 20), with a unique display by three vintage aircraft: the 1936 Iolar from Aer Lingus along with two Chipmunks, flying in retro Irish Air Corps colours. Meanwhile, this year’s headline acts also include the Hawker Hunter, The Strike Master and the Irish Aer Corps.

Sé Pardy, the Display Director from Simtech Aviation, said: “This year’s display programme is the most family-friendly yet, with lots of spectacular aerial action for visitors of all ages to enjoy. From vintage planes from the 1930s, 40s and 50s to high speed aerobic formations, we’re welcoming top pilots from Ireland and around the world to Bray, to showcase aviation at its very best.”

The Bray Air Display is just one of the highlights of the Bray Summerfest programme (#bsf14) which promises to be another sensational Summerfest for families and individuals of all ages. The five weekends encompass music acts and artists, Family Fiesta, open air cinema and the Wicklow Food and Garden Festival. A finale firework display closes the Bray Summerfest festival on August 4th.

Due to the large crowds expected at the Bray Air Display on July 20th, spectators are strongly advised to use DART, Dublin Bus and other public transport services as parking restrictions will be in place. Free park and ride facilities at designated car parks will be available with full details at www.braysummerfest.com

More information around the aircraft taking part in the Bray Air Display, which gets underway at 3.30pm, is available from http://www.brayairdisplay.com. There will also be further updates on AA Roadwatch, Aertv.ie and through Radio Nova. The air show event hashtag is #brayair and @BrayAirShow is the official Twitter account.

Ireland’s largest free air show takes off at 3.30pm on Sunday, July 20th and the display attracted a record-breaking 85,000 spectators last year. With the news that access to the event will be expanded beyond the physical location to a worldwide audience, the numbers are expected to more than double.

Aertv live streamed Flightfest in association with The Gathering last year, and received over 100,000 views from around the world. Aertv is now giving events in Ireland the ability to raise their profiles by opening up wider audiences, engagement and corporate sponsorship opportunities.

Welcoming the new partnership agreement with Aertv, Display Director Sé Pardy, of Simtech Aviation, said: “For the first time ever, the Bray Air Display will be live streamed through Aertv, helping us reach a whole new audience who aren’t able to travel to Bray on July 20th. For event sponsors, live streaming opens up new advertising opportunities and for event organisers like Simtech Aviation, it opens the door to mass audiences online.”

Philippe Brodeur, director of Aertv said, “Bray Air is a world class show. This is a phenomenal opportunity to get the message out there to more people, showcase a truly fantastic event, pursue corporate partnership and generate more revenues for all involved. We also love getting tweets from people watching our streams from random places around the world!”

In this era of devices, an emerging trend of live streaming has started which is empowering brands to take control and become their own broadcaster. Aertv has had great success working with progressive agencies and organisations on events like McDonald’s #eurosaverLIVE series and the Paramount Pictures Anchorman 2 premiere. They also regularly work with sporting bodies, such as Athletics and Cricket. The recent Ireland v Sri Lanka one day international cricket live stream was viewed by over 100,000 across 138 counties. Due to the limited air time available on traditional television, self-broadcasting is proving a massive hit for Aertv. There are dedicated audiences online, the fans love the access and it facilitates further activation and targeting for sponsors.

The Bray Air Display won the ‘General and Sport Aviation’ category at the inaugural Aviation Industry Awards and were presented with the trophy by Minister Leo Varadkar T.D. The Aviation Industry Awards are sponsored by the Irish Aviation Authority and celebrate the crucial role that aviation plays in Ireland

Aertv, an Irish online streaming service, has just announced that they will live stream full coverage of Olympic hero, Katie Taylor’s, fight this Saturday from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford.

The 27-year-old golden girl will take on the pride of Chicago, Kristin Carlson, in front of fans at the Dungarvan Sports Centre. The announcement of live stream coverage will come as great news to her many fans both home and abroad, who are unable to attend the event. Aertv will also provide live coverage of 10 other bouts on the night, including local National champions Davin Duggan and Connie Mc Donagh, who won the All Ireland’s last month.

Coverage from Katie Taylor’s previous fights against her opponents Marija Petric (Croatia’s Champion) and Anais Kistler (Swiss Elite Champion), which take place this Thursday and Friday, will be shown before the live event kicks off in Dungarvan on Saturday night.

Philippe Brodeur, Director of Aertv said, “We got fantastic feedback and support when we stepped in last year to show Katie’s fights from Bray and the Mansion House. We can’t believe the lack of TV coverage our Olympic hero has had since her gold medal. Aertv are delighted to step in again to provide accessibility worldwide to this fight. Katie is the headline bout but we will also be covering 10 other bouts of top class boxing so it’s also great exposure for the sport. I’m sure families of the fighters who can’t attend will appreciate the coverage also”.

Aertv has covered over 30 sports and over 500 games since their first live stream of an International hockey event in July 2012. The site gets an average 500,000 streams per month with live Sport being the number 1 driver of traffic. 45% of users access the service on mobile devices.

Aertv’s live events are currently viewed in over 180 countries. The company has strategically positioned themselves in the online sports broadcasting industry by being the number one provider of live streaming services in Ireland. Aertv regularly work with Irish organisations including Cricket, Basketball, Hockey and Athletics to achieve TV coverage online like never before.

Irish online TV platform, Aertv, in association with McDonald’s and Joe.ie, will live stream O.R.B and Gavin James on Friday 16th May 2014 to a worldwide audience. This is the second #eurosaverLIVE concert and follows on from the success of Tinchy Stryder coming to Dublin last year to kick off the series.

The Tinchy Stryder live stream received just under 10,000 views on Aertv and was the second most popular show on that day, being beaten only by the Late Late Toy Show. With the news that O.R.B and Gavin James will take to the stage for the second series, the expected numbers are to be bigger and better.

Philippe Brodeur, director at Aertv said, “After we had such fantastic feedback and success with the Tinchy Stryder gig, the team are delighted to be back working with McDonald’s and Joe.ie on what is shaping up to be an even bigger event. The band said, “We’re really looking forward to working with McDonald’s and Joe.ie on the upcoming #eurosaverLIVE gig in Galway. Having it streamed live by Aertv gives our fans all over the world a great opportunity to see us perform songs from our new album ‘All We Are’.”

People at home are encouraged to share and get behind this musical treat by spreading the word to friends and family outside Ireland, to tune in and enjoy #eurosaverLive through Aertv. It promises to be an incredible night for Irish music lovers throughout the world.

**For immediate release – 8th April 2014

Through a crowd-funding campaign, athletes hope to raise money to live stream the Irish Universities Athletics Association Track & Field Championships 2014

Aertv SportsLive offer a one-stop shop for Irish sporting organisations and clubs to showcase their events, increase their reach and live stream to a worldwide audience

For many Irish sporting organisations, clubs and athletes, lack of media coverage is an issue. RTE has limited airtime to cover the top tier sports and the cost of traditional production makes it very difficult for it to be worthwhile for broadcasters to engage in minority and niche sports. However, in this digital era, an emerging trend of live streaming and crowd-funding has started in Ireland, giving power to the people.

In February, the Irish athletics community secured funding for live streaming coverage of their event through online donations. The athletes wanted the event streamed, after Athletics Ireland initiative with live streaming company, Aertv, proved a huge success. The IUAA were unable to attract a sponsor for their smaller event but through nTrai, a crowd-funding website, they managed to gather over the €1,800 that was required in just two days. The athletes promoted the event via social media and appealed to their community to donate by posting videos through their social media channels.

The campaign worked and Aertv produced the live streaming with givebacks to the community through live commentary on the day. Again the community engaged by posting pictures of themselves watching the live stream and the coverage received fantastic feedback. IUAA wish to repeat the success of this campaign and have initiated a new project to live stream their Track & Field Championships on 12th April.

David O’Shea, founder of nTrai said, “We are delighted to be hosting the project in conjunction with IUAA and Aertv. The indoor campaign went extremely well and I’m sure the athletes will get behind the project again. It’s a real example of participants helping to make their sport better.”

Philippe Brodeur, director of Aertv said, “Irish sports are often under-represented by the traditional broadcasters.
This St Patrick’s Day, Irish online TV platform Aertv, will live stream a digital alternative to the traditional parade coverage on RTE. For the first time on Aertv, a unique 2 hour live production hosting parade festivities and featuring familiar faces from the sporting and music world will be streamed worldwide for free from 12pm on 17th March.

The world renowned festival parade is the principle event on the annual St Patrick’s Day programme. Meandering down the 3km route through the heart of Dublin City, the parade features artistry, creativity and musicianship in a sea of colourful celebration. Aertv’s alternative coverage is embracing digital and is seeking fun messages both home and abroad through various social channels, to be featured in the production.

Darragh Doyle (@darraghdoyle), the Community Manager for Riverdance, Heartbeat of Home and the @ireland twitter account, will be leading the live commentary and encouraging viewers to join the conversation online. Through working with and promoting Diaspora projects for the last three years and with online followers around the world, he brings a disparate audience to Dublin for the day. Having volunteered with the St Patrick’s Festival in Dublin for 10 years, Darragh hopes to share his love of the Festival and his love of Dublin with those around the world missing home, missing Ireland and especially the atmosphere on March 17.

People at home are encouraged to share and get behind the event by spreading the word to friends and family outside Ireland, to tune in and enjoy St. Patrick’s Day through Aertv.

“An event like St Patrick’s Day is made for all digital technology has to offer. Aertv gives real accessibility to events like this, on every platform and device. Everyone is Irish on St Patrick’s Day and with the numbers living overseas, the team at Aertv are really keen to bring a unique angle from the streets of Dublin to people all around the world, says Philippe Brodeur, Aertv director.

Last year, Aertv partnered with The Gathering Ireland to live stream the St Patrick’s Day People’s parade which proved a big favourite attracting over 40,000 streams.

To follow the event and for a chance to win spot prizes on Twitter, use the Hashtag #paddysday and follow @Aertv. Record video messages on your phone and post on Twitter/Facebook/Vine to @aertv using #paddysday or send it in to paddysday@aertv.ie to be featured in a unique live stream.
